Learn how the Certified Senior Transition Specialist (CSTS™) program prepares you to guide families through senior living transitions while building a meaningful career in a rapidly growing industry.

Why This Industry — And Why Now

Across the United States, a massive demographic shift is already underway—and most people have no idea how much opportunity it is creating. Between 1946 and 1964, the largest generation in history was born. Today, that generation is entering their 70s, 80s, and beyond. Every single day, thousands of seniors are reaching the point where living independently is no longer safe or sustainable. And when that moment comes, families are often left trying to figure everything out overnight. A fall. A dementia diagnosis. A hospital discharge. A parent no longer able to live alone. Families suddenly find themselves overwhelmed, emotional, and under pressure to make life-changing decisions quickly. They don’t understand the levels of care, the costs, or where to even begin. At the same time, senior living communities—including assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing—are facing an entirely different challenge. They cannot keep communities full. Due to constant turnover, rooms are continually becoming available. In many cases: Assisted living communities may turn over nearly 50% of residents each year Memory care can reach up to 75% Skilled nursing can exceed 90% annually Every empty room represents lost revenue. Communities spend millions trying to fill those vacancies, and they are constantly searching for trusted professionals who can help connect families with the right care. This creates a powerful and often overlooked opportunity: Families need guidance. Communities need residents. And there are not enough people bridging that gap. That’s where this industry exists. As a Certified Senior Transition Specialist (CSTS™), your role is to help families navigate one of the most important and emotional transitions of their lives—while positioning yourself within an industry that is expected to continue growing for decades. And unlike many traditional careers, this role offers multiple potential revenue streams within a single transition. The Three Revenue Streams 1. Senior Living Placement Partnerships Many senior living communities pay referral or placement fees when a resident successfully moves in. Depending on the market and community, these partnerships can generate several thousand dollars per transition. 2. Downsizing & Transition Coordination Families often need help coordinating the move itself—downsizing belongings, organizing logistics, or connecting with trusted local resources. This creates additional service opportunities during the transition process. 3. Home & Referral Partnerships Many seniors transitioning into care also have a home that needs to be sold or managed. Through referral partnerships and professional relationships, this can create additional income opportunities tied to the overall transition. This is what makes the industry unique. You are not limited to a single hourly wage or traditional income structure. Instead, you are building relationships, creating value, and positioning yourself within a rapidly growing industry where guidance is deeply needed. And despite the scale of this demand, this is still a relatively underserved space. There are tens of thousands of senior living communities across the country. Millions of families will need help over the next 20 years. Yet relatively few professionals are positioned as trusted transition specialists. This isn’t about chasing trends or temporary opportunities. This is about stepping into a role that is: Needed Sustainable Purpose-driven And positioned for long-term growth The need is already here. The industry is already growing. The only question is who steps into it.

The biggest thing for me was clarity. There’s so much noise online about ‘starting something new,’ but this actually gave me a clear path. I now understand how this works, who I need to connect with, and how to move forward without feeling lost.
